Pets/Animals at the office hours

The man or woman who cares about his/her pet takes good care of it and that means that if necessary, one visits the vet. In addition to visiting the vet if something is wrong, it also concerns, for example, the annual injections against all kinds of diseases. Most animals are summoned to the vet at least once a year and although there are also plenty of animals that hardly realize it, there are also quite a few animals that are really upset and literally come to the office with their tails between their legs. Can you prepare your animal?

Let your animal relax

In the cage, basket, water bowl, or bag

The extent to which you can prepare your animal for the consultation at the vet also depends on the type of animal. Many animals sense that if they go into another basket, something is wrong. Whether this is a hamster, rabbit, or cat.

The cat that doesn’t see the basket much anyway, puts the line even more easily to an unpleasant environment (if you only use it for that). On the other hand, if the cat goes into the cage/basket more often, it will feel more comfortable in this “safe” haven.animals

lose The animal that goes “loose” is usually the dog and possibly also the parrot. Although the animals feel fine with their own feelings, most are still happy to be allowed in, until the moment the veterinary clinic comes into the picture or you step through the door. Many animals also associate that annual jab as less fun and so they don’t want to be there. Now, these animals don’t have a huge memory, but they somehow make the line. This means that it depends on the owner of the animal whether and if so, you can and want to influence this process.animals

Owner of the animal

The animal is responsive to the owner and so it is important that you as an owner are as relaxed as possible. There is nothing wrong, all the most normal things in the world. Saying this to the animal – as you sometimes talk to a dog or cat – makes no sense, you have to feel it yourself, experience it yourself and radiate it. An animal is primary and responds to you.

Your attitude as an owner can play a major role in the process of how tense, for example, your dog walks in. If you sit down in the waiting room very nonchalantly – and then not played, but really – then you subconsciously influence your animal in a positive way. This is not to say that you completely remove the fear from the animal, but even if you are worried about something, do not let your animal notice it.

Diversion

Distraction also sometimes takes away the fear of an animal and you can offer distraction with, for example, toys. Take something that your animal is familiar with you and be actively involved with the animal. Some clinics also have a running field where you can go after you have registered.

The cat in the basket might use a hug or put your trusty hand over the animal and pet the cat. Possibly also put a nice toy in the basket or at least a cloth or cloth that still has the familiar scent for the animal. Talk normally, as you would normally talk to the animal. Do not act extra fun and swallow any nerves when you are working with the animal.

Putting a cat in the basket with another cat in the basket (which is also at office hours) usually has the opposite effect. What you can do is put another animal from home in the basket, even if nothing needs to be done with it. This is very familiar to the animal and can make the animal calmer.

Animal at the vet himself

Some vets have the gift of calming almost all animals. The appearance of the doctor in question is such that the animal does not immediately prepare to run away. He or she talks to the animal, strokes it kindly, and lets it sniff. It does not guarantee but often helps.

Unfortunately, not every vet has this gift and some are downright blunt. It is up to the owner of the animal, which vet he/she goes for. If you don’t mind, because with a bit of luck you won’t be there very often, just grab the nearest one. All vets love animals, so they will all be functionally good with your animal.

Prepare for treatment

It goes without saying that if you have to return with the animal because it has to be operated on, for example, there are also practical matters. Think of keeping the animal sober. Medications that should or should not be given in advance and that you should do this as normally as possible. Your own stress always works out on the animal.

Make choices

Just as the choice of a general practitioner is important to some, it is also important to others when it comes to the vet. Sometimes they specialize in a certain breed which can have advantages, others have a clinic where you can leave your animal for the weekend if necessary or where there is even consultation on Saturday. Or they are just around the corner and you can always park there (it may just be important to you!)

Yet many people consciously choose to click with a vet. If you as a person have that click with the vet, you have more confidence in them, you radiate that and it is easier to arrange matters with him or her. When it comes to feeling for your pet, your own feeling for the man or woman who will treat the animal is therefore of decisive importance. Make the choice carefully, it is better for humans and animals.
