Make Your Home Pet Friendly

A dog comes from an entirely different background and place whereas we humans have certain stuff at our home that can be a conundrum for pets to deal with. Hence, beyond knowing what is exactly dangerous for them, keep everything out of their reach. You can make changes such as keeping childproof latches, covering the garbage, using blockades, keeping food items out of reach, avoiding dangling wires, keeping the plants away, etc. Make your home pet-friendly just to make sure the utmost safety of your furry pal.

Make Them Comfortable

Adopting a pet is a noble deed. When you bring a dog to your home from the shelter, ask if your furry pal has his favorite toy, bed or blanket. Knowing this and including that at your home can make the pet feel familiar. And, when you reach home, do not hurry, let your Fido relax and get comfy with the smell and surroundings of your home. Make sure your pet has its own space somewhere they can relax when he is feeling overwhelmed.

Introduce Your Home

When the pet feels relaxed then it’s time to introduce him to your home. Take the tour of your home with your furry pal and keep him on the leash for a proper introduction to his new abode. Let your Fido have a look at every room and spend a few minutes in each room before moving to another. Take him to every area of your home so that he gets familiar with the place. Moreover, introduce the space specially kept for your pet with his bed and belongings around.

Be Prepared for Adjustment

Just like babies even pets cry without out of the blues and being a pet-parent you need to be prepared for this. Baby dogs will cry at night as they adjust to their new home. However, unlike human babies, you bringing them on your bed to cuddle and soothe is a bad idea. All you need to do is, set up a quiet, enclosed space with a comfortable bed or a kennel that can be closed to prevent wandering.

Stock Up On Pet Supplies

A pet requires more things than we ever imagine. It’s not just the food and water bowls and toys but other stuff that every pet-parent needs to stock. Leashes, collars, ID tags, litter box, flea and tick treatments, and all these essentials should be purchased to be ready for all that your pup requires. Ensure to provide quality food for your furry pal as it is already stressed for them to move into a new home and he doesn’t need the added anxiety of a new diet for time being.

Prepare To Stay Active

Pets are adamant when it comes to their routine and especially dogs, as they require an active life. Therefore, this can be a good opportunity to inculcate a daily walking or regular exercise to your doggy’s schedule. You can go for a morning or evening walk with your pet to the neighborhood or parks, which your pup will surely enjoy as well as it, will keep him fit. And, exercising together will have a major role in strengthening not just the bones but also your bond.

Train Your Dog

It is always wise to start training your pet from the very beginning. Training is an integral part of a dog’s life. And, you need to train your Fido in order to keep his mental and physical stimulation in balance. Moreover, training makes communication between you and your pet easier as he starts understanding and obeying your commands and positively enhances the relationship between the pet and pet parents.

Regularly Visit The Vet

Not all the time you can figure out what’s wrong with your pup because sometimes your dog may not even display the symptoms of a disease that he may be silently suffering from. Therefore, ensure to vet visit your vet regularly in order to keep a check on your pup’s health and to maintain his overall well-being.

Spend Time With Your Furry Pal

No matter how busy your day goes, just a jump of joy that your dog does can take away all your stress. Your pup waits all day when you’re at work or when you’re busy doing other chores, so it is you who has to take some time out to play with your pet, cuddles with him, do a fun activity together or just sit on a sofa and chill. Because all your pet wants from you is some time and lots of love.

Have Patience

It can be confusing, stressful, and scary for an animal to adjust to the human environment. Despite all the stress, you cannot expect them to quickly adjust where everything is new for your furry buddy. Give your pet some time to adjust before you began with the big fat introduction with all the family and friends. Keep the pet as happy and comfortable as possible in your home.
