You are super excited to bring home a new feline friend. This cute little furball will soon be a part of your family. Do remember that it will take time for a kitten to adjust to a new environment.

To help ease this transition, you must get the proper pet supplies ready. Here is some stuff that you need when you’re bringing home a baby feline:

Invest in a Crate

You will need to bring home your kitten, so you definitely need a comfy crate to transport it home. You will be using this every time you take your pet to the vet, or if you have to travel anywhere. Having your new kitty roaming in your car is not safe for you nor the animal. You want to avoid distractions, and you want to ascertain your kitty is safe inside a moving vehicle.

Stock Up on Premium Quality Food

This is the top requirement when you are bringing home a kitten. Nutritious and delicious food must be on the menu. It is paramount that you find a cat food that is palatable and healthy for your new feline friend. Kittens have different needs from adult cats so you must look for the appropriate wet cat food and kibble.

Make sure that you check with the vet to see if your kitten has any food allergies so these can be addressed. The last thing you want is feeding your cat food it is allergic to. Your vet will also tell you the appropriate food quantities for your pet, which you must put in a clean pet bowl with a separate container for water.

Get a Litter Box and Cat Litter

Cat poop and urine are not the best smelling things in the world. If your cat marks his ‘territory’ on your floor or furniture, the pungent smell will be hard to scrub off. Having a cat litter box and some kitty litter is of utmost importance if you want to live in an odour-free home.

Every cat needs its designated pee and poop spot. On top of that, having the right cleaning supplies in case of accidents is crucial for having a great smelling home.

Purchase a Comfy Cat Bed

Just like humans, cats love comfort. Many people even claim cats to be the laziest house pet. Make sure to get your new kitten its own cat bed to avoid having it sleep on yours. Having a cat bed that is fluffy and large enough is important for your cat’s comfort.

Check out various pet supplies shops to find the best brand in the market. You want to invest in a quality bed that will last for a long time. Something that you can wash and dry in your machine is ideal.

Buy a Flea Comb or Cat Brush

All furry pets are prone to getting fleas and lice. Part of being a good cat momma/ dadda is knowing how to practice good pet care and hygiene. Owning a pet requires maintenance. Similar to getting your car oil changed, a cat’s coat needs to be maintained regularly. Purchase a brush or flea comb to get rid of or prevent lice infestation.

Combing your cat every few days also helps with the shedding of its fur. A lot of times when cats are not combed, their hair gets lodged in different pieces of furniture, carpet, and even clothes. Do yourself a favour and buy this affordable device to save yourself from the hassle.

Provide Cat Toys

Kittens have a lot of energy, so do prepare a lot of cat toys to burn your new addition’s energy. Kittens love scratching, and you certainly don’t want them clawing your furniture. Buy a scratch pad, balls of yarn, and other plush beanies that your kitten can play with to its heart’s content.

Final Word

These are the top items you need to have in your home when you bring a new kitten. You are truly in for an amazingly wonderful time because this creature is sweet and kind. Nothing beats having a furry feline friend meowing and pawing right next to you.
