Once you’ve decided to get a dog, there’s lots of excitement! Puppies are surely great. They are a lot of fun, snuggly, and lovable. They smell a little weird, but there are so many choices you get to make with them — not only the type of dog, whether you are looking for Goldendoodle puppies or something a little smaller like a bulldog, but even choosing their name.

However, there are lots of other choices you get to make too when it comes to things that you need for a dog, and some of those can be overwhelming.

Take, for example, food. There are a variety of food choices, and many of them are formulated just for puppies. Food goes into bowls, of course, and along with a food bowl, you need a water bowl as well. Those have to be sized not just for the puppy and how big (or small) he or she is, but how big (or small) he or she will get.

Then, of course, your puppy needs a home — we don’t mean your home, but a bit of containment for themselves when you leave or when they just need rest. That can differ depending on what your dog likes and what your home requires. Consider installing a pet door so your dog can relieve themselves outside whenever they want.

As with a food bowl, the crate or container needs to be sized not just for what size the dog is now but for what size the dog will be. In addition to some sort of comfortable pad in the crate, you’ll have to also think about where your dog is going to relax when they’re out of the crate.

What does their bed look like and what is it made of? Especially for puppies who like to chew, there are different considerations in material choices that you’ll want to review.

What else is on the list for all the essentials — and some of the fun stuff — that you require for a puppy in your household?

This graphic helps to explain it.

Special Items To Make Your Puppy Look Sleek and Feel Comfortable

Dogs are a man’s best friend, and dog lovers keep on looking for the most stylish and sleek accessories for their favorite pet. A lot of beautiful and attractive fashion accessories are available in the market these days that make the pups look cute and adorable.

The accessories like a dog collar with a name tag should make the pet look fashionable, however, one must always note that the props and dresses should be very comfortable and harmless to the dogs. It is important to buy everything from a reliable store to ensure there is no risk to the puppy.

Here are some of the essential accessories from the new puppy checklist to take care of your pup.

Collars

The collar and leash are needed for the puppy from the day they arrive at your home. You may want to choose a leash and collar, which is soft, comfortable, and sturdy. You must keep a check that the material of the strap is smooth and do not prick or pinch the puppy’s skin, especially when they are young and small.

The collar of the puppy should have the provision to hold its license and the ID tag. You may select a stylish printed and colorful collar to make your puppy look cute, or a simple plain one if you want to keep it sophisticated.

Before buying any collar, you must wisely check out the size and order one, which is adjustable to rightly fir the pup’s neck. The need is to find a one with a buckle so that you can easily fit that on the pup’s neck without any hassle. It should just be right not very tight that it suffocates the puppy nor so loose that it slips off its throat.

The pups grow fast, so you need to buy a few different collars over some time. You may play with colors and style and purchase attractive collars from the various online sellers.

Leash

The leash should also be sturdy and give you complete control of the puppy, especially when the training is going on.  You must choose a strap which is of good material and comfortable to hold. It should be sturdy and robust and be resistant to wear and tear. Always ensure that the leash is of good stuff as many times the pup may chew it. Also, the material should be skin-friendly for your comfort.

Dresses

You may want to keep your pups stylish and comfortable all the time. There are loads of puppy dresses available these days that make them look cute and adorable. Themed dresses are also available, which you can choose for your favorite pet as per your choice.

Snugly swatters to keep them warm in winters and matching hoodies just to revamp their look. Dog fashion is evolving these days. You can get coats, hoodies, jackets, and beautiful sweaters for your pets online.

Bandana

Personalized dogs bandanas make the pets look adorable and lovable. The bandanas fit on their heads perfectly and are easy to remove. You can also order custom made bandanas online with prints and colors of your choice.

Grooming Accessories

You may also buy some fantastic dog carriers and safety belts to carry your pups when traveling or hiking with them comfortably. Grooming accessories like pup brushes, dryers, slippers etic are also an excellent buy if you want to groom the pets at home.

First Aid Kit

Newly rehomed puppies commonly experience vomiting and diarrhea. It could be due to gastrointestinal infection, vitamin deficiency, or stress in rehoming. You can make your new puppy comfortable by providing a bland diet and withholding decadent treats.

New puppies explore their new surroundings through their mouth and nose. Hence, they may also be at risk of ingesting foreign material and poisons, such as chocolate, human medications, and raisins.

Toy dog breeds like Yorkshire Terriers and Chihuahuas have small stomachs and are prone to hypoglycemia or low blood sugar, characterized by weakness and lethargy. This is a life-threatening condition for dogs.

Other common emergencies that dogs experience include trauma, anaphylaxis or allergic reaction, and respiratory and digestive problems. How do you prepare for these emergencies?

A first aid kit is an excellent way to prepare for a dog emergency. A dog’s first aid kit should contain a muzzle to cover your pet’s head, a thermometer, and activated charcoal to absorb the poison.

It’s essential to keep your pup’s first aid kit at hand, especially during travels. You want to ensure you have something to use to handle an emergency while waiting for rescue or before taking your dog to the nearest vet clinic.

By getting the right items for the pups, you can always make them look stylish and keep them safe and comfortable.
